Breaking news: As Manchester United after a disappointing lose to Manchester city , appoints new captain over maguire and angry Ronaldo ,will this era be good ?

 Harry Maguire was mocked mercilessly

on social media after another dismal

performance from the Man Utd captain

in the Manchester derby defeat on Sunday.

Man City defeated their rivals 4-1 at

the Etihad to reopen a six-point lead at

the top of the table over Liverpool, although

Jurgen Klopp’s men have a game in hand.

There was no doubt who the star of the

show was for City as Kevin de Bruyne

ran riot for the home side.

He scored City’s first two goals and

delivered the assist for Riyad Mahrez’s

third goal.

There was also no doubt who the

flop of the match was as Man Utd captain

Maguire really struggled for his team.

He was at fault for City’s second and

third goals. For De Bruyne’s second

on 28 minutes, which restored City’s lead

 after Jadon Sancho’s equaliser, Maguire

bizarrely allowed the ball to go through

his legs when he could have cleared it.

This resulted in Phil Foden seeing his

shot saved before De Bruyne struck

home the rebound.

For City’s third goal on 68 minutes

that ended any chances United had of a

comeback, Maguire failed to properly

block Mahrez’s scuffed shot from De

Bruyne’s corner and it flicked into the net.

Maguire was also booked for a rough

tackle and it came as no surprise that

he was mocked on Twitter.

There has been a big debate this season

over whether Maguire should have his

captain’s armband taken off him due to

his poor leadership and even poorer

performances.

As mentioned before, Maguire made

errors for both City’s second and third goals.

Some feel he should have done better

 in closing Mahrez down.

And, inevitably, fans made reference

to Maguire’s astronomical transfer fee,

with Man United spending a world record

£80 million for a defender to get him

from Leicester in 2019.
