Breaking news: Just in from Fabrizio Romano as Ole Gunnar solksjaer finally gets his new job ,as Harry Maguire is set to join him in his new team as deal agreed for star defender and Manchester United names new captain ,not ronaldo but a top star .

It has been revealed that Manchester

 United paid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

around nine million euros - or 7.5m

pounds - in compensation after

deciding to part ways with the Norwegian

 coach earlier this season.

In total, Solskjaer and his backroom

staff - which consisted of Michael Carrick

, Kieran McKenna and Martyn

Pert - received more than 10m euros

after they were sacked by the Red Devils.

"Exceptional items for the quarter

were a cost of 10 million pounds,"

read a Manchester United statement

 in the club's latest accounts.

"This cost includes compensation to

the former men's first team manager

and certain members of the coaching

staff for loss of office, plus additional

contributions we expect to pay towards

 the Football League pension scheme

deficit based upon the latest actuarial

 valuation."

New coach ahead of Manchester

 United's 2022/23 campaign

Meanwhile, football director John

Murtough has officially confirmed

that Manchester United are in search

of a coach to replace Ralf Rangnick in

summer, with Paris Saint-Germain's

 Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax's Erik

ten Hag considered to be the main

 suitors for the job.

"We are now conducting a thorough

process for the appointment of a new

permanent manager who will take

charge this summer, with the objective

to get us back to challenging for

domestic and European titles,"

 Murtough said.

Solskjaer was fired back in November

 after struggling to help Manchester

United rediscover their form. The Reds

Devils were knocked out in the third

round of the Carabao Cup under the

Norwegian coach and failed to progress

to the fifth round of the FA Cup under

 Rangnick.

They are, though, the favourites to

progress to the Champions League

quarter-finals after drawing 1-1 against

Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Wanda

 Metropolitano.

Meanwhile, their realistic objective

in the Premier League this season is

to clinch a top four spot and qualification

 for next year's Champions League

group stage.
