  Manchester United have made initial  enquiries about a possible move for  Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel  Akanji. United have been prioritising a defensive  midfielder and a striker for the summer  but talks over Swiss international Akanji  indicate Ralf Rangnick wants a new  centre back also. Defender Phil Jones is still hoping  to leave despite turning down a move to  Bordeaux last month while Eric Bailly  remains unhappy at his limited  playing time. Question marks have also been  raised by Rangnick regarding the level  of Harry Maguire's performances and an  experienced defender such as Akanji  would increase competition. The 26-year-old has 16 months left  on his contract and is valued at  £26million by Dortmund who bought  him from Basel for £15m in 2018.  According to Gazzetta dello Sport ( Monday's edition, page 19), Manchester  United are interested in signing Napoli  attacker Victor Osimhen this summer.  Last season, the Nigerian joined the Serie  A club from Lille for a club-record £58. 5 million cost, but he struggled to make  an impact, scoring just 10 goals in all  competitions.  He was limited by a shoulder ailment . With a cheekbone fracture this season,  he's had a similar situation, but his form has  been significantly better, with 15 goals  in only 25 games.  The 23-year-old has lately reached his peak  form, scoring back-to-back braces, and  he is reportedly attracting a lot of Premier  League transfer interest.  Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle  United have all been connected with the  player, but United is also keeping an eye on him.
